The Microsoft minidriver does not work for smart card redirection with Windows 8, Windows 10, Windows Server 2012 R2, and Windows Server 2016 remote desktops. Workaround: For a Windows 10 remote desktop, open the Microsoft smart card service manually if it is stopped. The service stops automatically if it is idle for more than one minute. You can use 3D mouse in remote desktop, webcams, keyboards, smart card readers, and share many more types of USB devices quickly and easily. The application does not require a public IP address since it uses a proprietary redirection server for sharing USB devices.
Hi.
I need to use a smart card while working with remote desktop.
My office pc runs win XP and have a smart card connected. I can not use that card when working remotly, its not found. Like its disconnected.
I also have a smart card connected to my Mac at home. The smart card works fine when the VPN connection ask for my code.
The problem is that it does not get forwarded. I have tried to use MS Remote Desktop for mac and CoRD.
But none of them supports the smart card.
It works fine with parallels/win7 on my mac, I can then use my smart card.
How ever I would like to not use the win/ on my mac.
Do anybody have a soulution to this? Are there any Remote desktop applications that support forwarding of smart card for Mac OS?

Microsoft Remote Desktop Mac Smart Card Redirection Download
I noticed that when I login to a Windows 10 machine from a Windows 7 machine using Remote Desktop (RDP), I was able to authenticate fine using my Smart Card. But once I am inside the Windows 10 machine and want to RDP to another machine, I don’t get Smart Card authentication option in RDP window. Even if I want to use any command that requires elevated privileges I don’t get Smart Card authentication option.
Smart Card Rdp
It really seems like that Windows 7 machine is not passing or redirection Smart Card to the Windows 10 machine. When I RDP from Windows 10 machine to a Windows 10 machine, Smart Card is passed/redirected fine and I don’t see this problem.
Anyway, after searching a lot on the net I finally found the solution in one of the TechNet post. i.e. to remove the following updates from the Windows 7 machine:
After uninstalling these two updates, I rebooted my Windows 7 machine and tried RDP to my Windows 10 machine. Smart Card redirection started working fine.
