Stack provides a one-click install solution for Joomla! Download installers and virtual machines, or run your own joomla! Server in the cloud. While there are a lot of content management systems out there, few can boast as many downloads as Joomla!

Bitnami Joomla stack contains package of applications or components to create a complete platform to run Joomla application. It is a one-click installation for Joomla.

Through this article we are going to discuss the steps required to install Bitnami Joomla on CentOS using Bitnami Joomla Stack installer.

Step 1. Go to Bitnami website, and download Bitnami Joomla Stack; suitable for your Operating System. For CentOS system, I have selected “Win / Mac / Linux” environment and downloaded “bitnami-joomla-3.9.18-0-linux-x64-installer.run” installer.

Step 2.Open the Terminal window. By using below command from the shell prompt; change the file access permission of the downloaded installer to allow the user to execute the installer;

Step 3. We must have to run this installer in root / administrative mode; otherwise, we will see below core dump error;

Step 4. So, run this installer using root user privileges, by using su command;

Step 5. During the installation, the installer will prompt the user to take inputs; based on the given inputs, the installer will install required components to run Joomla in CentOS. Here are the steps shown during the installation;

Step 6. Once the installation is done, open the web-browser and type localhost in the Address. You will see Bitnami Stack page; from where you can access installed Applications.

From this page, we can access Joomla & other installed components.

Note:If you are not seeing this page means; the necessary services are not started. Go to next step to start the services.

Step 7. Bitnami Stack, installs useful control scripts; to manage the necessary services to run the Joomla application. We can find the scripts in the location where we install Joomla. In our case, it was installed in the path /opt/joomla-3.9.18-0/, and the control script name is ctlscript.sh. It takes arguments; start, status and restart to manage the services.

From above step, if you do not see a Bitnami Joomla Stack page, after the installation; you need to type the below command to start the services.

Step 8. If installation is successful; you will be able to access the Joomla site; by clicking on the “About Joomla site!” link or by entering the URL http://localhost/joomla, in the web-browser.

By using Bitnami Joomla Stack installer, we can easily install the Joomla in the Server, Cloud, Containers, Virtual Machines or even in our local computer.
